Dongi Lee

Dongi Lee (1967) creëerde het karakter met de naam Atomaus. Het is een combinatie van de stripmuizen Atom uit Japan en Mickey Mouse uit Amerika, ikonen van Korea's volkscultuur uit de jaren '60 en '70. Atomaus staat symbool voor de import van buitenlandse cultuur dat van grote invloed is op Korea's huidige populaire cultuur. Net als andere 'pop-kunstenaars' probeert hij de grenzen van massa cultuur en kunst te beslechten en met zijn werk dichter bij het publiek te komen (ook door het gebruik van andere media naast het schilderen ). Maar er is ook nog een ander aspect. Lee gebruikt een uitgekiend spectrum van beelden. Het verhaal dat Dongi Lee met deze beelden laat zien, is het verhaal van hemzelf.
