Paauwe kwam met haar Nederlandse vader en Chinese moeder (pas) in 1985 naar Australië. Haar serie foto’s ‘Double Dutch’ tonen gesluierde lichamen van opgroeiende meisjes. Double Dutch verwijst naar een kinderspelletje, en daarmee naar onschuldigheid, tegelijkertijd heeft het werk door de doorzichtige sluiers een zekere erotische lading.
